The House of Hope

The past week has been very refreshing. Since Leah's sister Caitlin was painting the mural we spent a lot of time hanging out with the kids at the hospital. They where a blast to hang out with... it was really neat because they are so content and happy with so little. Caitlin had the kids start the painting filling in outlines with various colors. Then she took over and finished in the details. I have some various pictures that I will scatter throughout this post of the kids. This has been a long week with the kids, we gave out some soccer balls on Leah's last day in town and it was a lot of commotion. It went as well as can be expected for giving stuff away. On Sunday we worshiped with a church being formed near Trois Rivier. We then took a boat across the river and headed up to the house of hope. Although I knew what to expect, I was not prepared for it. So many children, with so many illnesses. I do not know how the people at the House of Hope keep up with it all. Currently there are about 80 children that they are caring for. The House of Hope is a home for kids with illnesses such as TB. It was very overwhelming at first but the kids were great, we had a great time with crayons, colored pencils and glitter. I forgot how much fun it was to open a fresh box of crayons. Ok since I am running out of time I am going to just dump a bunch of photos here.

Leah flew out with her sister on Monday. So now I sit in the corner of the room talking to myself :] Just kidding, I will miss her though and so will the soccer boys and Mdm. Jerar.... Speaking of soccer it is almost time for soccer so I will finish up quickly. This morning I woke up at three in the morning to drive a team to the airport. I was worried we would not make it across the small river because I could hear it start roaring down from the mountains about 10 pm last night. The small river was fine but the big river was two big to cross. I picked up one of the guys that works for Bruce at the river and we commandeered one of his relatives aluminum boats and pushed the team across the river. Those river shoes and river pants have come in handy. They drain and dry pretty quick. I have the merrill river shoes but I would actually recommend the Keen river shoes they seem more durable. Well soccer may not happen today. It just started raining. Well maybe soccer in the rain :]
