Ok just a warning, as usual I have no time to write or be on the internet so things are going to be disorganized. So anyways, what have I been up to? Working on solar systems, the kind that go in your house and make power out of the sun so you can stay up to late at night when you really should be asleap. A missionary in the city has had the equipment for a solar system for a few years but it had never really been set up propper and several of the panels had been stolen. My job was to put the panels in a frame that would make them dificult to steal and rewire the house so it was safer/nicer looking. Well it was interesting moving from the country to the city.

First off, no running water, which equals bucket showers and an outhous, in fact this outhouse which is populated by a large number of cockroaches.... yumm... well the instalation went pretty well and took me about a week. Another four panels are needed to complete the system but there is enough power for lights and use of the computer for now. All week while working I had been eying the green hills with envy so I took off sunday afternoon for a hike up to a town called Gion. It was a really neet hike and it was nice to get back out in the country away from the noise and pollution and heat of the city.

I followed up many small paths made by people and animals... the trail was often surrounded by bannana plants and often shaded by large mango and avacado trees. I ran into a few kids who where very happy to see me. They where quite curious as to what I was doing out in the middle of nowhere. Little mountain houses are abundant with families raising their produce in teraces on the slopes of the mountains. I eventually reached an old road which is no longer passable by car. It is still used heavily by foot traffic though. As I gained elevation there where small villages strung along side the road. The road followed the ridge route and there was a strong cool breeze that blew in to the village which was just below the clouds giving it an almost misty cool feeling. I hope to return there someday and continue up the moutain which is the largest in our area.

A few more days in the city and I was finished. I stopped at a pasters house on the way out of the city and helped his son fix some problems with his solar system crossed the river and waited for a ride. Eventually I caught a ride on a tap tap back to TPWIAS and arrived just before nightfall. There is a large teem from the netherlands in the area working on a school so the guesthouse is pretty packed but it is fun having a lot of people around. All the locals wanted to know where I had been so I spent a while catching up with everyone. The teem brought a bit of giardia with them and I was unfortunate enouhg to catch it and experience the first symptoms Saturday night. It is the sickest I have been in a while which has been a real blessing.

There have been official soccer mathces here the last few days so our little soccer games have been put on hold. I hope to resume them friday, unless I go back to Port de Paix that day. I have very few days left in tpwias. Pray that I use them for His glory! Pray that I will adjust well moving back to the States. Also BIG praise for rain we had the other day! it was very refreshing.

A tropical storm that may turn into a huricane is headed our way so we may get some more rain from that storm as well. Please pray that for the safety of the Haitians, and also please pray for the people of where I live. This morning while running I came accrost a voodoo cerimony in progress, people here are trapped into a system of fear where satan makes slaves of them. Please pray for them, and pray for the believers here that they would be light to those arround them.

The church here is often shallow, and it cannont afford to be... I am often shallow here and I can not afford to be... Well I look forward to seeing you all very soon. I start work Sept 1st and plan to go to a pretty strict sleeping schedule. In bed at dawn minus 8 hours whatever that is :] Some of you may be wondering why all of a sudden I have two pictures of myself both clearly posed in one post. Umm because my sister asked for them :] I will be back in the valley on the 29th of August! see you then!

Dustin-
Good to hear Haiti is still keeping you busy as ever. I emailed with Bruce and Deb and they said the storm passed without much damage. I'm assuming the same for you.
Keep going strong, you'll be having a hot shower in just a few days.
